How to view the map

We used landslide information for 13 study areas in Italy and morphometric information obtained from the 3-arc-second SRTM DEM to determine areas where landslide susceptibility is expected to be null or negligible in Italy, and in the landmasses surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. The morphometric information consisted in the local terrain slope computed in a square 3 by 3-cell moving window, and in the regional relative relief computed in a circular 15 by 15-cell moving window.

The layer is in the "mediterraneanSea" path and it is called "LandslideNonSusceptibilityMediteraaneanSea" (Title) and "nonsusceptibilityMed" (Name).

Rapid instructions, adopting QGIS (freely available here: http://www.qgis.org), for WMS beginners:

  1. Select "Add WMS/WMTS Layer" from the Layer menu;
  2. Click the "New" button, insert a name for the new server (e.g. "IRPI"), copy the URL of the IRPI WMS Server address (http://geoserver.irpi.cnr.it/geoserver/wms) into the URL form and click OK;
  3. Then click "Connect" and wait some seconds.
  4. Now you will see all the available (groups of) layers. 
  5. Search for "mediterraneanSea" and open the sub-list clicking on the arrow to the right.
  6. Select the layer called "LandslideNonSusceptibilityMediteraaneanSea" (Title) and "nonsusceptibilityMed" (Name).
  7. Click on "Add".
  8. Wait some seconds to see the image of the layer in your QGIS.
